Important Parking Rate Update — Effective January 15, 2026

Important Parking Rate Update — Effective January 15, 2026

New Jersey Transit (NJT) has announced significant increases to its parking permit and daily rates at Princeton Junction Train Station, effective January 15, 2026:

  • Alexander Permit: from $294 per quarter to $504 per quarter
  • Daily Parking: from $7 per day to $12 per day.

These changes reflect rising maintenance costs at the station and parking facilities, as well as a market-based adjustment to bring NJT parking fees in line with other locations along the Northeast Corridor.

Under the operating agreement between NJT and the West Windsor Parking Authority (WWPA), WWPA is contractually required to adjust its non-resident permit rates and daily parking rates to match NJT’s new pricing.

In addition, WWPA continues to recover from the long-term financial impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a quasi-independent municipal authority, WWPA did not qualify for most federal or state relief programs. The shift to hybrid work led to a substantial reduction in parking demand and permit revenue. While a temporary agreement with Princeton University for parking in the Upper Vaughn lot helped offset some of this shortfall, that agreement will largely conclude in early 2026.

As a result, WWPA is implementing only its seventh resident quarterly rate increase in the past 55 years:

  • Wallace Permit: from $150 to $210 per quarter
  • Upper & Lower Vaughn Permits: from $150 to $180 per quarter
  • Daily Parking: from $7 per day to $12 per day.  Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday  Premium parking will also continue to be offered in a limited quantity when available in Wallace permit lot going from $15 per day to $17 per day

All daily and quarterly rate changes will take effect January 15, 2026, consistent with NJT’s schedule.

The updated quarterly permit rates will appear on your next billing cycle beginning March 1, 2026.

WWPA will continue to offer Free weekend parking for ALL West Windsor residents from Friday 3 pm until Monday morning 1:30 am in the Wallace Permit lot.
